Negotiations Update: Conclusion of Conciliation Process.

Dear Fellow Members,
Thursday, June 11, 2009 the Association of Postal Officials of Canada has formally notified Canada Post that it is the intent of the Association to refer those outstanding issues which could not be resolved through the conciliation process to an arbitrator as per the following article:
•     11.4 – If the parties are unable to reach a negotiated settlement, either party may provide notice to the other party of its intention to refer all outstanding matters to a mutually agreed upon arbitrator for final offer selection arbitration, and neither party will have recourse to their respective right to strike or lockout.
While it remained our hope and desire that we could negotiate a fair and equitable settlement, unfortunately, the discussions to date preclude us from achieving that goal.
Thank you.
François
