Update on negotiations between Canada Post and APOC
Canada Post and the Association of Postal Officials of Canada (APOC) have been meeting since November in an effort to obtain a collective agreement in the Interest-Based Negotiations process. In this process, both parties have been working together to find common ground on the key issues before them, and have exchanged proposals on these issues.
On May 22, 2009, the Association wrote to the Minister of Labour to request the appointment of a conciliator to assist the parties at the table. Once a conciliator has been appointed, the parties will work with them to move towards a new collective agreement.
The collective agreement, which expired on March 31, 2009, remains in effect. Updates will be provided on the progress of negotiations as the parties continue discussions.
