New code(s) on the Notice of Change in Union Affiliation (NCUA)

Good day,  

  This is further to Bill C-3 and recent changes to Bereavement Leave (unpaid leave as a result of death of a child, stillbirth, death of a child (crime related), and disappearance of a child (crime related)) under the Canada Labour Code, which come into force on December 1, 2022.  In support of the new legislation, Canada Post will be adding new leave codes to SAP.  Testing will begin on the new leave code(s) shortly and, as such, you may notice the new code(s) on the Notice of Change in Union Affiliation (NCUA) files going forward.

The following term will be used to indicate an unpaid leave of absence due to Bereavement Leave in situations as noted above:

New LOA Action Reason Proposal

  • CP Bereavement I ˃ 30 Days

  • CP Bereavement V ˃ 30 Days

  • CP Bereavement X ˃ 30 Days

  • CP Bereavement C ˃ 30 Days
