Good day,

As previously reported, the Cost-of-Living Allowance payment was triggered for the month of March 2022. So, what does this mean in terms of payment?

The calculation for the cost-of-living entitlement for each APOC employee is determined as follows:

  • The cost-of-living threshold target was triggered in the month of March 2022 and surpassed by (.9)

  • There is a payment of 1 cent for every .08 above threshold, thus 0.9 divided by 0.08 equals 11.25 or 11 cents per hour worked.

  • All hours worked (including overtime) are included in this calculation.

E.G. An employee works 207 total hours in the month of March (including overtime)

The calculation would be 207 hours * 11 cents = $22.77

The corporation has indicated that there is a delay in payment of the COLA due to a system upgrade requirement in order to properly process the payments. Once we receive an update regarding payment date, we will follow up with another advisory at that time.

Thank you,

Rick Williams
