Update – RVU Members:

Following the Job Evaluation Review Process, the Association has advised the Corporation of our intent to send this position to the external review of a third party as was outlined in the Appeal Process. After many requests over the last number of months, the Association finally met the company on October 15th, 2010.
Unfortunately, as a result of our discussions, the Corporation has replied to us via an email on October 26th, 2010 stating that they are not in agreement with us in this regards and are of the belief/position that this issue should go to Arbitration. 
We deem this to be an unnecessary step which will unfortunately, delay having this position evaluated as per the terms of the Job Evaluation Plan. Understand, the arbitration will be to solely determine if the Association will be allowed to proceed to the next step as outlined in the Appeal Process to a third party. This will not render a decision with regards to the Classification Level of the position. 
These are very recent occurrences and in fact we are still attempting to convince the Corporation to avoid this costly and time consuming step in the process. 
A grievance is currently being drafted in this regard and will be filed this week accordingly in the event that we remain unsuccessful in convincing the Corporation to honour the terms of the collective agreement.
