Mail Operations Organization – High Priority Message (March 12, 2010)

To: All Association of Postal Officials of Canada (APOC) Members
Dear Members,
As many of you are already aware, a message has been distributed by Canada Post identifying the current economic challenges and the subsequent proposal to make changes to the current organization within the APOC membership.
As stated in this message, the Association has already voiced our concerns with this proposal and in preliminary discussions, have identified this proposal as the same plan which faced our membership five (5) years ago during the Collective Agreement Bargaining session of 2005/2006.
We have not seen any work undertaken or planning to make us believe that today…they’re ready to implement such a drastic proposal.
That being said, it is clear that we face a challenge once again that unfortunately, actually has us questioning the definition of our relationship or understanding of Partnership with CPC. Why? Because it is difficult to understand why the Corporation exhibits such attitudes towards the dedicated men and women who actually manage the people and processes of making this company profitable.
Nonetheless, it is our dedication to those same individuals which will allow us to continue to work in not only our member’s best interest but, in the best interest of making this company successful as well.
Please be assured that we will continue to keep you apprised as these discussions and committee meetings begin.
Fraternally,
François
