2019 At-Risk Pay – Explanation of Grievance Resolution

Good day,

Following our recent announcement regarding Grievance #00-2021-0004, members have asked for clarification about what the grievance concerned and what the resolution means.

The grievance arose from the Corporation’s decision to reduce At-Risk Pay for the 2019 calendar year by 10%. Affected members therefore received less than the At-Risk Pay amount they would otherwise have received. APOC challenged that reduction through the grievance process, seeking recovery of the withheld amount.

To clarify, the 10% refers to the reduction in the At-Risk Pay payment itself, not 10% of a member’s annual salary. For example, if a member’s At-Risk Pay before the reduction was $2,000, the 10% reduction would have been $200. That example is for illustration only; individual amounts depend on the At-Risk Pay applicable to each affected member.

The grievance has now been resolved, providing for payment of the outstanding 10% to affected members, with November 5, 2026 identified as the payment date. This payment relates specifically to the reduction applied to 2019 At-Risk Pay and is separate from the retroactive wages resulting from the renewal of the Collective Agreement.

This matter has taken considerable time to resolve. The outcome recovers compensation that APOC pursued on behalf of affected members, and we appreciate your patience throughout that process.

Thank you,

Rick Williams, National President
