Job Evaluation Update…
As many of you are aware the Association filed a grievance dealing with the issues surrounding the Appeal Process as it related to our members within the Revenue Verification Unit (RVU) functions.
The Hearing date was set to commence in March 2011 and the Parties were prepared to make presentation in front of the Arbitrator for a ruling which would have permitted the use of the Third Party (as outlined in the Appeal Process) to review the classification level of these positions if disputed by the Committee. Subsequently, discussions had taken place prior to the Hearing which would allow for the creation of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in which the Parties would not have to appear before the Arbitrator. The opportunity to negotiate an agreement as opposed to the uncertainties present in an Arbitration Award, lent itself to our preference in pursuing a settlement in this manner.
Subsequently, The Association and the Corporation have entered into an agreement in this regard and we have finalized the details of this MOA.
The RVU positions will now proceed to the Job Evaluation Review Committee as described in Letter #8 – Conversion Review Procedure and shall commence its review no later than August 1, 2011. In addition, as time limits were stipulated in Letter #8, the Parties have agreed to amend the effective date of any possible changes to the Classification Levels to April 1, 2011.
To our colleagues in the RVU, we wish to offer our appreciation for your understanding in the length of time it has taken to resolve and move this process forward. Please contact your Local Branch Representatives if you should have any further questions in this regard.
